At IDBS, I led UX for a suite of complex scientific software tools used by major BioPharma clients. Despite strong technical capability, the products suffered from fragmented workflows and poor usability. I initiated a cross-continental research programme—interviewing and observing scientists in laboratories across the UK, Europe, and North America.
Through contextual inquiry, I uncovered inefficiencies in data capture and analysis. By simplifying key workflows and introducing a unified design system, we reduced user friction and improved consistency across product lines. Support tickets related to UI dropped by more than 25%, while product adoption increased significantly. The project demonstrated how deep research and system thinking can turn complex software into intuitive, high-performing tools.
